Arlington director to give evidence to Mahon Tribunal today

The managing director of Arlington Properties, the firm behind the failed Bachelor’s Walk project in Dublin, is due to give evidence to the Mahon Tribunal today.

Raymond Mould is expected to be questioned about his dealings with former Fianna Fáil TD Liam Lawlor.

Property developer Tom Gilmartin, who was also involved in the Bachelor’s Walk scheme, has already told the tribunal that Mr Mould and his associates hired Mr Lawlor as a consultant against his [Mr Gilmartin’s] wishes.

Mr Gilmartin said Mr Lawlor barged his way into a meeting of Arlington executives in London and demanded to be involved in the Bachelor’s Walk project. Mr Mould subsequently hired him as a consultant for £3,500-per-month.

One of his colleagues has already told the tribunal that the company wanted Mr Lawlor on board because of his political connections. However, he admitted that Arlington received little of importance in exchange for the consultancy fees.
