Up to 11,000 gardaí will be on duty this Saturday to ensure a "prompt and effective" response to any trouble at May Day protests.

Speaking in Donegal, Garda Commissioner Noel Conroy has said between 200 and 300 people intent on causing trouble are planning to come to Dublin on Saturday.
