Poll reveals drastic fall in Fianna Fáil support
Support for Fianna Fáil has fallen in recent weeks, according to an opinion poll in a Sunday paper this morning.
The recovery in support for the Government, which was heralded in polls of the past few months, has now diminished.
The findings come just ten days after the Taoiseach’s appearance before the Mahon Tribunal.
The poll suggests that Fianna Fáil will face an uphill battle to retain its European parliament seats, particularly in Munster and could lose dozens of local authority seats.
It also shows that a "caring" coalition of Fine Gael, Labour and the Green Party, as proposed in recent weeks by Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny and suggested by Pat Rabbite at his party’s conference last night, is considered a more acceptable government then the present coalition.
