Mail backlog: An Post heads for Labour Court
Part of the An Post dispute has been referred to the Labour Court.
Talks at the Labour Relations Commission have been unable to find agreement relating to the clearance of the backlog of mail which accumulated during the recent stoppage.
However, talks on the long-term viability of An Post will continue at the Labour Relations Commission on Monday week.
The Communications Workers Union has said An Post's plans would not see the backlog of mail cleared until the end of April.
Sean McDonagh of the CWU has said: "The union put forward its own proposals this morning to the company which included the recruitment of casuals and which in our view would have restored services earlier.
"Now, unfortunately, the company have rejected that and the matter has been referred to the labour Court."
