Minister for Defence discusses EU security policy

The Minister for Defence Michael Smith has met his EU counterparts in Brussels to discuss the European Security and Defence Policy.

It focused on creating an EU capacity to respond to crisis management and humanitarian distress situations.

The development of an EU rapid response capability to support the United Nations in crisis management was also discussed.
