An Post and CWU resume talks today
An Post and the Communications Workers Union are due to begin talks today aimed at resolving a long-running dispute between the two sides.
CWU members in An Post have already voted for strike action over the company’s failure to implement pay and reward deals and the Government’s failure to implement an employee share ownership scheme.
The dispute came to a head last month when the company suspended workers in Dublin for refusing to comply with new sorting arrangements that they said were introduced without consultation.
Today’s talks were arranged by the Labour Relations Commission after An Post agreed to reinstate the suspended workers and the CWU agreed to discuss all the issues facing the company within a six-week time-frame.
Earlier talks on the matter broke down without any real progress at the end of last year. The dispute between the two sides centres on An Post’s efforts to cut costs, mainly by reducing overtime.
