Taoiseach to attend memorial for victims of Madrid bombs
The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, is due to attend a memorial service in Spain later today for the victims of the Madrid bombings.
The death toll from the March 11 attacks was revised downwards yesterday to 190.
Mr Ahern, who is currently president of the European Council of Ministers, will be joined at today’s memorial service by other EU heads of state.
Afterwards, he will travel to Brussels, where he is due to preside over an EU summit tomorrow and on Friday.
