Naughten hits out at Ahern and Brennan
The intervention of Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and his comedy sidekick Seamus Brennan into the "will they, won’t they" airport strike would be hilarious, if it weren’t so potentially damaging, Fine Gael Transport spokesman Denis Naughten said today.
“The Taoiseach wasted no time in claiming credit for solving Thursday’s SIPTU airport strike, but then we learned there is still a serious risk of the strike going ahead. Perhaps the Taoiseach has been beaten by one of his own legendary strokes," said Deputy Naughten.
“The Taoiseach’s intervention has destroyed any credibility that Seamus Brennan had left. The fact that the SIPTU leadership had to ask the Taoiseach to intervene in its own strike action proves how ineffective Seamus Brennan has become."
