Adams welcomes renewed NI peace efforts
The Sinn Féin president has welcomed the Irish and British governments renewed efforts to restore momentum to the Northern Irish peace process.
Speaking at a party-fund raiser with Irish-Americans in New York, Gerry Adams has said the Government must use its equal status in the process to demand forward movement.
Mr Adams said: "I spoke just before I left Ireland to both the British and the Irish governments by phone at Shannon on route here.
"I understand that there will be renewed effort after the St Patrick's week by both the Taoiseach and the British Prime Minster to get the process back on the rails and I welcome that."
