New code to restrict use of celebrities in ads aimed at children
The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland is reportedly planning to crack down on the use of celebrities in advertisements aimed at children.
Reports this morning said a Childrenâs Advertising Code being drawn up by the BCI would restrict the use of celebrities in ads promoting food, drink and other products aimed at children.
The reports said the code would also ban the broadcast of Christmas-related ads until after Halloween.
A draft version of the new code is due to be published next month.
