Paisley condemns race-hate leaflets

Ian Paisley tonight joined the condemnation of the distribution of racist-style leaflets calling for residents of part of Belfast to resist a so-called “yellow invasion” of Chinese people.

The Democratic Unionist Party leader said the threat to Chinese in the Donegall Pass area of the city was “vicious and diabolical“.

He described the development as a campaign of ethnic cleansing that had to be opposed by all law-abiding people.

Mr Paisley’s comments followed the seizure by police of a computer during a series of searches in the Donegall Pass district.

A number of other items were also taken by police in the course of the operation – but no arrests were made.
