NI Commission pleas not to be pre-judged

Members of the Independent Monitoring Commission set up to observe paramilitary activity in Northern Ireland have appealed to the public not to pre-judge them.

The Commission is made up of a former head of the department of justice, a former speaker of the Stormont assembly and two ex CIA members.

A former head of the Anti-Terrorism unit of Scotland Yard, John Grieve, has said people should not jump to conclusions from his former job.

Mr Grieve said: "So I was a cop, I was a fairly independent-minded cop.

"I’m now an academic. I like to think I bring a degree of objectivity but you will have to judge us on the reports that we produce."
