PDs discuss party’s constitution at conference
A National Conference of the Progressive Democrats gets underway this lunchtime to consider major changes to the Party's Constitution.
The main item of the agenda will be proposals to change the system by which the PD's Party leader is elected.
Dessie O'Malley lead the party from its foundation in 1985 until Mary Harney was elected leader by the Party’s Oireachtas members in October 1993 – now the party is to consider giving all its members a say in the selection of their leader.
