Supporting Irish abroad ceremony held in UK

The 'Supporting Irish Abroad' campaign has been officially launched at a ceremony in Britain.

The Bishop of Derry, Seamus Hegarty, performed the ceremony at the Irish Centre in Camden last night, when he called for the establishment of a dedicated state agency for Irish people living abroad.

Father Alan Hilliard is the Director of the Irish Bishop's Conference for Emigrants.

He feels the Government can have no doubt over the need for such an agency.
