Parents are being reminded that there is no conclusive evidence to link the MMR vaccine with autism.

A British medical journal yesterday distanced itself from claims it published some years ago that children given the jab could develop autism.

It has caused a decline in the uptake of the vaccine by Irish parents and there have been a number of outbreaks of measles since the decline began.

Gerard Bury, Professor of General Practice at UCD, warned: "There's absolutely no evidence to warrant the serious concerns by parents about having their kids vaccinated."
