Luas to bridge half-century gap
The first trains on the Harcourt Street line in nearly 50 years will be seen in Dublin tomorrow when testing begins on the Luas Sandyford to St. Stephen's Green line.
Minister for Transport Seamus Brennan will visit Dundrum to observe Luas trams travelling across the Taney Bridge in Dundrum and the historic Nine Arches Viaduct at Milltown.
The line was initially closed down as a rail link on December 31, 1958.
Testing will be overseen by the Railway Procurement Agency, Connex and the Railway Safety Inspectorate.
Operations on the new Harcourt Street Line are due to begin in June and will include 13 stops from Sandyford to the city centre.
