Commissioner testifies at 1974 bombings hearing

Garda Commissioner Noel Conroy is giving evidence today to the Oireachtas committee investigating the 1974 Dublin and Monaghan bombings.

Garda Commissioner Noel Conroy is giving evidence today to the Oireachtas committee investigating the 1974 Dublin and Monaghan bombings.

Mr Conroy is being questioned about the garda investigation into the bombings, which killed 33 people on May 17 1974.

He told the Oireachtas justice committee today that some rogue elements of the RUC could have helped the loyalist paramilitaries who carried out the attacks.

The Barron Report published year said there was no conclusive evidence to support such collusion allegations.
