Dundalk by-pass to be financed by tolls

The construction of the Dundalk by-pass will be partly funded by tolls.

The by-pass will be the latest section of the M1 motorway between Dublin and Belfast.

The Government has already allocated €10m towards the new stretch of motorway.

However, money collected by tollbooths, which operate on the M1 near Drogheda will also be used.

The Celtic Roads Group has been awarded the contract for the by-pass, which is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
