Gardaí investigating the gangland murder of a man in Dublin’s inner city today recovered a gun believed to have been used in the attack.

The 30-year-old victim was gunned down at a flat in St Theresa’s Gardens in the south of the city.

He was taken to St James’s Hospital before he was pronounced dead at around midnight.

The attacker made off from the scene on a motorcycle.

A Garda spokeswoman said forensic tests were being carried out on the gun, which was found near the scene of the killing, to find out if it was the murder weapon.

It is understood the victim was known to gardaí and had a number of convictions.
