Man arrested after mother goes missing

A man was arrested today by gardaí investigating the disappearance of a mother-of-four from Co Donegal.

Detectives detained the 36-year-old man in the Donegal town area this morning after Delores McCrea went missing last week.

Burnt skeletal remains were later found in a shed at Ballybulgin, and it is understood these have now been positively identified as those of the mother of four girls.

Mrs McCrea, from Ballintra, Co Donegal, who was separated from her husband, had been due to attend a darts match on the evening of her disappearance last Tuesday, but never arrived.

A garda spokesman said the man was being detained at Letterkenny garda station under the provisions of the Criminal Justice Act and can be held initially for six hours.
