Labour urges Govt to help stranded Jetmagic passengers

The Labour Party has called on the Government to provide assistance to the 400 passengers left stranded following the overnight collapse of the Cork-based airline Jetmagic.

Party spokeswoman Róisín Shorthall said new licensing laws were also needed to ensure that airlines had the necessary insurance to bring passengers home if they went out of business.

"The Department of Transport should certainly be involved to ensure that passengers are returned to where they came from," she said.

"I will be raising this this afternoon in the Dáil with the Minister for Transport, Seamus Brennan.

"I will be looking for assurances from him that those passengers will be looked after and to ensure that a similar situation can’t arise in the future."
