Bailey loses six out of eight libel actions

Ian Bailey has been awarded €8000 in libel damages by a court in Cork after losing all but two of the eight libel actions he had taken against a number of Irish and British newspapers.

Ian Bailey has been awarded €8000 in libel damages by a court in Cork after losing all but two of the eight libel actions he had taken against a number of Irish and British newspapers.

The court ruled Bailey had been libelled by The Sun and Irish Mirror in their coverage of the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier.

The Cork-based journalist had taken libel action against eight newspapers which he claimed had unfairly linked him to the murder in December 1996.
