Man remanded in custody over possession of ecstasy tablets

A 31-year-old man has been charged in connection with the seizure of 500,000 ecstasy tablets with an estimated street value of between €6-7m.

The drugs were seized during a garda operation at Mountrath in Co Laois yesterday.

Colm Carroll, who is originally from Glanmire in Co Cork but who is currently of no fixed address and unemployed, faced three charges including possession of the drugs and possession for sale or supply.

He has been remanded in custody until next Wednesday.
