Down locals continue search for teenager’s body
Hundreds of local people are still searching the beaches by torchlight around the harbour of Killough, Co Down, for a missing 14-year-old boy even though the coastguard has called off its search.
The official search for Jordan Murdoch was called off just after lunchtime today, 24 hours after he was swept off the village pier by high waves.
Local people haven't given up, though, and are hoping to find his body.
His grandfather watched on helplessly as he was swept out to sea.
"I could see his arms waving and his wee face," he said, adding that he had shouted to him to hang on and that help was coming.
Prayers for Jordan were said for him at St Patrick's Grammar school in nearby Downpatrick where he was a popular pupil.
