Comments made by the Director of Public Prosecutions with regard to the investigation of files received from the Garda Complaints Board are expected to place further pressure on the Gardaí today.

The DPP told the Irish Times that the vast majority of files received cannot be investigated because the statutory time limit for summary prosecutions has already expired.
