MEP says EU presidency ‘good for Irish economy’

Fianna Fáil MEP Sean Ó Neachtain says the EU presidency has great potential to improve the Irish economy.

He says it will open up more markets for Irish goods abroad, especially in Eastern and Central European countries that are to join the EU in May.

Mr Ó Neachtain says the presidency is a good opportunity to get closer economic and political links with these new countries, and to create more jobs at home by opening up our export market.
