Pets don't make pressies, warns Minister

The Minister for Agriculture, Joe Walsh, is urging people not to give pets as Christmas presents this year.

Minister Walsh says more often than not they are cast aside, or dumped when the novelty wears off.

For those tempted to get rid of pets after Christmas, Minister Walsh warned that people should make sure to give them to a recognised animal shelter.
