SDLP seeks full publication of Cory reports

SDLP leader Mark Durkan has called on the British government to publish the Cory reports into four controversial murders in the North in the 1980s and 1990s.

The repors were compiled by retired Canadian judge Peter Cory, who was appointed by the Irish and British governments to investigate six murders in which security force collusion was suspected.

Two of the murders relate to alleged collusion between the Gardaí and the IRA, and the report into these killings is due to be published by the Irish Government later today.

The report into the other four killings is in the hands of the British government, which has refused to publish the document, citing legal complications over the rights of people named.

Mr Durkan yesterday accused British Prime Minister Tony Blair of trying to bury the truth about the four murders and said the families of the victims should not have to wait any longer for information.
