Irish shipping firms are to benefit from a €75m funding package from the EU.

The Marco Polo programme offers grants to non-road transport modes.

The Marine Institute says shipping companies here should avail of the grants.

Glen Murphy, director of the Irish Maritime Development Office, says the funding will expand Irish business.
