Trocaire urges Govt to tackle African AIDS epidemic
Trocaire has called on the Government to use the upcoming presidency of the EU to continue tackling the AIDS epidemic in sub-Saharan Africa.
Trocaire said the region is the poorest in the world and continues to receive the lowest share of funds available for development aid.
Foreign Affairs Minister Brian Cowen has already signalled Ireland’s intention to push African issued higher up the agenda when it assumes the EU presidency on January 1.
