Irish forestry contractors are warning that the forestry industry is in danger of collapse because Coilte has reduced the rates for harvesting.

They say hundreds of jobs could be lost as many mills are importing from abroad.

JJ Bunyan of the Irish Forestry Contractors Association said most contractors now face bankruptcy, with high levels of borrowing and rising insurance costs.
