Figures show 950 suicide drownings in ten years

Over the past ten years there have been over 950 drownings by suicide in Irish waters, according to new figures from the Irish Water Safety body.

The vast majority of these were male suicides with the largest group affected being 30-34 year-old males.

The number of drownings by suicide is greater than the number of accidental drownings.
