Irish authorities ‘foiled Nazi sabotage operation in Britain’

Authorities in Ireland foiled a German sabotage operation in Britain in 1940, according to British National Archive files made public today.

The files reveal that a three-man team of saboteurs was imprisoned in Mountjoy after landing in Ireland in 1940.

One of the Germans had an explosive device disguised as a can of peas in his possession.
