North's DPP gets British army collusion evidence
The UK's top policeman, London Metropolitan Commissioner Sir John Stevens, has revealed that he is inquiring into a further 10 murders, in which loyalists and the RUC or British army may have colluded.
Files on each of the killings have been sent to the North's Director of Public Prosecutions, according to Stevens.
The commissioner said his inquiry is now centred on a British spy inside the IRA, codenamed Stakeknife.
It's alleged loyalist gunmen who planned to murder Stakeknife were re-directed to kill a West Belfast pensioner instead in order to save the spy's life.
The SDLP's Alex Attwood said it confirmed his belief that collusion with loyalists was a systematic policy, led by the British army’s Force Research Unit, with the knowledge of the RUC.
"The truth can wait no longer," he said.
