Greens: Toxic US ships must be dismantled

The leader of the Green Party is set to meet the US Ambassador to Ireland tomorrow to impress on him the need for the four toxic US Naval Ships to be returned to the US and dismantled there.

Trevor Sergeant says the ships, which are being towed to the UK and are just days away from the Irish Coast, contain a number of harmful toxic chemicals.

He plans to tell Ambassador James Kenny tomorrow that the only legal option for the US is to return these ships to the country.
