Athy bank robbed by armed gang

Gardaí in Co Kildare are seeking four armed raiders and a getaway driver.

The four entered a bank on Duke Street in Athy at around 4.10pm, held up staff and demanded cash.

They made off in a getaway car driven by a fifth man, which was later found abandoned at the entrance to Woodstock industrial estate on the Kilkenny Road.

But it is believed the gang may have changed vehicles, and may have made off again in a white car or van.

It is thought workers at the industrial estate may have noticed suspicious activity.
