Aer Lingus: Business as usual for weekend

Aer Lingus has said it will be business as usual over the Bank Holiday weekend, despite strike action by cabin crew.

This comes even after an eight-hour Labour Court hearing last night.

It is understood that Finbarr Flood, chairman of the hearing, requested that cabin crew call off their stoppage.

Crew say they won't call off the two 24-hour strikes scheduled for Thursday and Monday, until they see what recommendations are made by the court.

Christina Carney, assistant general secretary of IMPACT, said they would welcome a recommendation in line with what would be reasonable productivity, for the 4% pay rise at issue, taking into account the contribution already made by cabin crew regarding productivity.

A spokesperson for Aer Lingus said they were disappointed that the union had not called off the industrial action pending the Labour Court recommendation.

The Labour Court chairman has not set any date for publication of his recommendation.
