Baby abandoned in Cork hospital car park

Gardaí tonight appealed to the mother of a baby girl found abandoned in a hospital car park to come forward.

Gardaí tonight appealed to the mother of a baby girl found abandoned in a hospital car park to come forward.

The baby – thought to be around three days old – was discovered in a blue holdall on top of the boot of a car in South Infirmary Hospital, Cork, just before 1pm today.

It is believed she had been left just minutes before being found.

Gardaí said they were concerned for the health of the baby’s mother and appealed to her to contact them.

The baby was being cared for at the hospital in Cork.
