The Labour Party says gardaí must be given extra powers to enable them to deal with the escalating incidence of gangland killings.

It comes after a man was found shot dead in North Dublin yesterday, in what's believed to be a gangland attack.

It's believed 27-year-old Patrick Anthony Sheridan, of Ratoath Avenue in Finglas, may have been shot up to two days before his body was actually discovered at lunchtime yesterday.

Labour's Justice Spokesman, Joe Costello, said gardaí must be given the resources to deal with crime bosses.
