McAleese meets Chinese president today

President Mary McAleese is to meet with the Chinese President, Hu Jintao, while on a state visit to the country today.

It is understood the President will not be raising the issue of China's human rights record during talks with Mr Hu today.

However, the issue will be up for discussion with the country’s Prime Minister tomorrow.

The president will attend a banquet in her honour in the Great Hall of the People tonight.
