Brennan moves to tidy up penalty points regulations for taxis
The Transport Minister, Seamus Brennan, has moved to prevent taxi drivers refusing to carry parents and toddlers, because of penalty point fears.
Minister Brennan says there is no obligation on taxi drivers to provide car seats for young children.
But, by law, motorists must ensure children are restrained with an appropriate harness, or if over the age of four, by a seat belt.
The Minister says he is moving to "tidy up" regulations and close the "apparent gaps".
