Car Free Day falls flat

There was no significant reduction in Irish traffic today, Car Free Day. That is despite the fact that public transport was free of charge during off peak hours today.

Seventeen Irish towns and cities took part, up from 10 last year.

The event, which took place across Europe, is aimed at encouraging drivers to leave their car behind and use buses or trains instead.
