Ring seeks compensation for Mayo landslide victims
Fine Gael TD Michael Ring has called on the Government to give financial aid to people who lost property in Friday night’s landslide in Co Mayo.
The landslide, triggered by heavy rain, caused damage to several houses in the village of Pollathomas, near Belmullet.
It also damaged two bridges and left some sections of road buried in mud up to a depth of seven feet.
Mr Ring, the local TD, said householders affected by the landslide should receive similar compensation to families in Dublin affected by flooding last year.
