600 jobs at risk at Carlow Braun plant
The 600-strong workforce at Braun in Carlow has been placed on protective notice from Monday, in the latest phase of the company's rationalisation plan.
It’s understood that management broke the news to staff that they could not now pay a promised 2% pay rise at about 12pm today.
The struggling facility axed 250 jobs last August when a key production line was moved to Eastern Europe.
The company says the latest announcement is due to an unofficial overtime ban in place by technical staff in a dispute over redundancy terms agreed last December and endorsed by the Labour Court.
At its peak the company employed almost 1,700.
