Social welfare spending 'lower than most developed countries'

Ireland’s social welfare spending is lower than most other developed countries, according to a Combat Poverty study to be published later today.

The research also found that "relative poverty" in Ireland has increased substantially over the past decade, mainly because of dramatic increases in incomes during the Celtic Tiger years.
