The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has said the Assembly Elections in the North can only happen if there's a credible chance an executive can be formed afterwards.

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has said the Assembly Elections in the North can only happen if there's a credible chance an executive can be formed afterwards.

Speaking after talks with Tony Blair in London yesterday, he said he wanted the election to take place before Christmas.

It is expected to be an intense week of discussions between party leaders this week on the matter.
