No date set for Northern Assembly elections

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern last night arrived back in Dublin following his two-hour meeting with British Prime Minister Tony Blair, without announcing a date for the North's Assembly elections.

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern last night arrived back in Dublin following his two-hour meeting with British Prime Minister Tony Blair, without announcing a date for the North's Assembly elections.

They met at Tony Blair's country retreat of Chequers in Buckinghamshire.

Government sources say the meeting was "useful", as they looked forward to working on a fresh agenda over the coming months.
