The Government has promised that people who applied for the first-time buyers’ grant before it was abolished last year will not be denied the money if the building of their home was delayed beyond their control.

Reports yesterday said people who applied for the €3,800 grant before it was abolished last December would not be given the money unless they were living in the house by November 13 this year.
