Sinn Féin says it is opposed to the Independent Monitoring Commission announced today.

The new four-man Commission will monitor all paramilitary activity as part of plans to re-establish a democratic assembly in the North.

Today, Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness held talks with the Taoiseach and Minister for Foreign Affairs Brian Cowen.

Gerry Adams says the new Monitoring Commission gives new powers to the British, which were not agreed to in the 1998 Peace Agreement.
