Irish motorists less prepared than British counterparts

The Royal Automobile Club has published research showing that Irish motorists take fewer driving lessons than their British counterparts.

The RAC study showed that young Irish drivers take between eight and 10 lessons, compared to an average of 26 in Britain.

The RAC has sharply criticised Ireland’s provisional licensing system, saying it allows motorists to take to the road without any formal instruction.
